Trier – Trier

Der Wiesenmanager hat Mitte Dezember Geburtstag. Normalerweise machen wir da einen Ausflug oder einige Tage eine Reise. Aber diesmal war ich schon froh, daß wir überhaupt einen Ausflug machten und nicht nur eine Fahrt nach Frankfurt. Irgendwie wollte er nicht und so habe ich kurzentschlossen Bahnfahrkarten nach Trier besorgt. Die Fahrt war zwar lang (Hinfahrt über Koblenz, Heimfahrt über Mannheim, leider im Dunkeln).

The birthday of the meadow-manager is in the middle of December. Usually we are doing a day-trip or a trip over several days. But this time, I was already happy, that we did a day-trip and not only a ride to Frankfurt. Somehow he didn’t want to do anything. And so I bought spontaneous some railway tickets to Trier. The journey was long (the journey there via Coblenz, the return journey via Mannheim unfortunately it was dark outside).

 

 

Trier ist eigentlich eine schöne Stadt. Geschäfte wie in einer Großstadt. Und viel altes Gemäuer. Endlich haben wir die Porta Nigra gesehen, waren an der Mosel, und natürlich im Dom. Dieser strahlt wirklich eine enorme Ruhe aus, obwohl viele Leute ihn besichtigen.  Besonders schön ist der Kreuzgang.

Trier is in fact a beautiful town. Shops are like in the big cities. And a lot of old walls. At last we saw the Porta Nigra, we have been at the Moselle, and finally the cathedral. This building radiates really an enormous sense of calm, although there are a lot of visitors. Especially nice is the cloister.

Das Wetter war strahlend schön – der einzige Tag in dieser Woche. Nur leider sind um diese Zeit die Tage zu kurz.
