From the camping site in Ede I wanted to go waterwards. So we decided to travel to Halerwijk. The day was sunny and warm, so the stroll was short – but on the other side we enjoyed the view on the water – hour after hour.

It is still warm – thankfully, because we had to plant the bulbs and same plants. At the market I couldn’t resist to buy this Ilex vericillata. The meadow-manager planted it. It has still the berries and we hope that it (she?) doesn’t need a ‘man’.

There is lot of plants still flowering. And also the leaves are coming down on the beds. The other leaves are raked for the leaf mould.

Oper Frankfurt ‚DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL‘– Opera Frankfurt ‚The Abduction from the Seraglio‘

Ich kann nur schreiben: schön, kurzweilig, sehenswert.
I can only say: lovely, entertaining, interesting.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 1756 - 1791
Singspiel in drei Aufzügen, Text von Johann Gottlieb Stephanie d. J.

DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEMSERAIL (The Abduction from the Seraglio)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 1756 - 1791
Opera in three acts, Libretto by Johann Gottlieb Stephanie the Younger
About the Piece

Which was the most performed and successful of Mozart's operas during his lifetime? Die Entführung aus dem Serail. While composing the work, Mozart's arguments with his employer in Salzburg, Archbishop Hieronymus von Colloredo, led him to pack his bags and leave his city of birth. His dream of working at court in Vienna come to nothing, but he found love, married Konstanze Weber and continued work on his Entführung. In tune with the spirit of the times, Mozart imitated »Turkish music«, or how he imagined such music might sound. Memories of the so called Turkish war a hundred years earlier were still fresh – so came into being a three part overture whose beginning and end sections sound »Turkish«, a fashionable »oriental opera«.
Synopsis
Belmonte, a young Spanish nobleman, wants to free his bride Konstanze, her maid Blonde and his servant Pedrillo, who, after falling into the hand of pirates during a voyage, are being held against their will in the harem of Bassa Selim’s palace in Turkey. Belmonte does not manage to get past the steward Osmin until he meets Pedrillo, who passes Belmonte off as an achitect to get him into the building. Since their arrival Konstanze has held firm against Bassa’s threats and pleading for her love and Blonde has not given in to Osmin’s attemps at seduction. Pedrillo gets Osmin drunk so that their attempt at escape can succeed. When the the two pairs of lovers finally meet up again it seems that the escape might have to be postponed because of the men’s doubts about the women’s faithfulness - but they soon make up. Their escape is thwarted at the last moment. They are tied up and taken before Bassa, where it transpires that Belmonte is the son of Bassa’s deadly enemy. Seeing no way out of the situation Konstanze says that she would prefer to die with her lover. Instead of taking revenge Bassa grants his prisoners freedom, much to Osmin’s displeasure.

Garten: Herrenmühle in Herbolzheim -Bleichheim – Herrenmühle in Herbolzheim-Bleichheim

When I was tidying I found a flyer with open gardens and there was one, which opened at a Friday afternoon and is also described in this book.

Gärten und Grüne Oasen: In Südbaden und im Dreiländereck Deutschland, Frankreich, Schweiz‘

Nachdem ich ohnehin etwas deprimiert vom Physiotherapeuten kam, hatte ich etwas Ablenkung notwendig. So fuhren wir also zur Herrenmühle in Bleichheim. Das Schloss gehört übrigens einem englischen Ehepaar.
After a visit at the physiotherapist I was coming home a little depressed and needed some divertissement. So we travelled to the Herrenmühle in Bleichheim. The castle belongs to a pair from Great Britain.

This sight welcomed us – you have to note the abundance of Santa Barbara daisies . Here they are a weed – I would like to have them as a weed.

But first we had to pay the moderate entrance fee before we could start the tour.

We passed this barrow. To look at it is nice, but if it is easy to handle?

Then there were a lot of decorated spaces of the garden and pots.

Selbst der Kompost ist liebevoll dekoriert. (Komposthaufen zu entdecken – für mich ein Muß).
Also to compost heap is lovely decorated (to discover the compost heap – for me a must.

You have to enter the vegetable garden between two topiary. And here I hesitated – where was the ‘Stone bed’ which is pictured in the book? The solution of the puzzle: Mr. Haas has to leave his garden, which he described in the book and has found a new home at the castle. Unfortunately to take the bed to the new garden was not allowed.

But also there was a lot to discover. The astilboides tabularis and the rheum are very large. That might be because of the little stream, which will transpire moisture. Anyway I quitted going the way to stream.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask which kind of hydrangea this is.

Dann das Wasser (kommt vom Schloss).
And then the water (coming from the castle).

Es war ein schöner Ausflug.
It was a lovely trip.
