Urlaub im April (Teil 6) die Heimreise – holidays in April (part 6) going back to home

Abschied vom Campingplatz in Ursum. War schön dort. Unterwegs fing der Regen an. Über den Damm, der über das Ijsselmeer führt, ging es aufs ,Festland’.
We said farewell to the camping site in Ursum. It was beautiful there. In the meantime it began to rain. Over the dyke, this leads over the Ijsselmeer, on the ‘mainland’.
In Lemmer Pause gemacht, das letzte Mal Schleusen gesehen.
In Lemmer we had a rest and saw the last time a sluice.

 Den Campingplatz bei Doesburg erreicht. Da waren wir bestimmt vor 8 oder 9 Jahren einmal. Aber unsere Adresse war gespeichert – leider nicht das Jahr. Abends dann den nächsten Gasthof für das ‚Abendbier’ – haben wir uns in Ursum angewöhnt – gesucht. Gefunden haben wir etwas – aber es war abschreckend. In Ursum war alles sauber, die Bedienung war nett – jeder hat seine Englisch- oder Deutschkenntnisse an uns ausprobiert. Einmal gab es auch ein ‚Anfängerbier’ – das richtige Zapfen musste gelernt werden.
We arrived at the camping site near Doesburg. 8 or 9 years ago we were here, but our address was still available – unfortunately not the year. In the evening we were looking for a pub for our ‘evening pint’ – we got into the habit of this in Ursum – and found one. But it was deterring. In Ursum all was neat, the service was friendly – they tested their skill in speaking German and/or English. On one occasion we got a ‘pint of beginners’ – to learn the correct drawing of a pint.
Aber auch Doesburg ist eine schöne Stadt, und wir haben hier einen Tag genossen.
But also Doesburg is a lovely city and we enjoyed a lovely day there.

Wir besuchten wieder die kleinste Stadt der Niederland nämlich Bronkhorst.
We visited the smallest town of Netherland – Bronkhorst.

Anschließend wollten wir in Hummelo die Gärtnerei von Piet Oudolf besuchen. War zu. Dafür gab es – leider – ein Geschäft mit Dingen, die man unbedingt haben muß, aber eigentlich nicht braucht und auch noch Geld kosten. Eigentlich hätte ich ein vorher-nachher Bild machen müssen.
Afterwards we wanted to visit Hummelo to see the nursery of Piet Oudolf. It was closed. But – unfortunately – there was a shop with items you absolutely must have, but you actually don’t need them and furthermore they cost money. I should have done a picture before, so it is the picture after (the purchase).
Dann hatte ich ein Haus ‚Kasteelblik’ gesehen und das Kasteel gesucht und sind auf einen Rundgang gestoßen mit Kunstwerken.
Then I saw a house ‘Kasteelblik’ and after looking for the Kasteel we entered a circular path with works of art. But it was gorgeous. A Hungarian took the opportunity to speak with us in a perfect German – nobody knew, that he spoke German at all. Furthermore we spoke in English, Dutch, and Netherlandish as well with hands.

Ja und dann waren wir wieder zu Hause.
And then we were at home again.
Die Rückbank im Auto war auch voll.
The back seat of the car was fulled up as well.

 

Garten im August– garden in August

Unser Häcksler wurde – man höre mit erstaunen  - nach 10 Wochen geliefert. Der Wiesenmanager hatte zu tun, da ich viel am Schneiden war. Er wollte Haufen mit Schnittgut leer machen und was fand er da? Die Mama wurde kurzzeitig auf die Seite gesetzt.
Our chaff-cutting machine was – you hear with surprise – after 10 weeks delivered. The meadow-manager had a lot of work, because I did a lot of cutting. He wanted to clear the heave with clipping and what did he find?  The mama was temporary set aside

Es ist herbstlich. Die Haselnüsse fallen, die Herbstzeitlose blüht – auch in der Wiese. Die Liebesperlen der Schönfrucht verfärben sich bereits, der Hopfen entwickelt sich auch.

It is autumn-like. The hazelnuts are falling; the autumn crocus is flowering in the meadow as well. The fruits of the Callicarpa giraldii change the colour, the hop are growing.

 Ich hoffe nur noch auf einen schönen und sonnigen Herbst.  
I only hope for a beautiful and sunny autumn.

Urlaub im April (Teil 5) die letzten Tulpenfelder – holidays in April (part 5) the last tulip fields

Der letzte Tag in Nordholland – eine Provinz der Niederlande – war noch mal den Tulpen gewidmet – der Park in Anna Paulowna auch Klein Keukenhof genannt.  Nach Umleitungen – mit besonderen Blick – wer hätte das gedacht – auf Tulpenfelder, erreichten  wir das Dorf.  Vorher aber einen Abstecher in ein Cafe; dieses wird von der Kirche einmal in der Woche für ältere, einsame Menschen geöffnet (ein Raum und ein Tisch). Es war wunderschön. Ein Ungar hat gleich die Gelegenheit genutzt perfektes Deutsch mit uns zu reden – keiner wusste, daß er überhaupt Deutsch konnte. Außerdem wurde Englisch, Niederländisch, Holländisch und mit Händen die Unterhaltung geführt.

The last day in North Holland – a province of Netherland – was dedicated to tulips again – the park in Anna Paulowna also named ‘Little Keukenhof’. After diversion – with an extraordinary vista – who had thought it – of tulip fields – we arrived at the village. But first we wanted some coffee and decided to go to the church; they open the coffee only once in the week for old lonely people (one room with one table). But it was gorgeous. A Hungarian took the opportunity to speak with us in a perfect German – nobody knew, that he spoke German at all. Furthermore we spoke in English, Dutch, and Netherlandish as well with hands.

 Dann ging es in den berühmten Park. Hier sind die Tulpen und Narzissen alle beschriftet. Außerdem habe ich gesehen, wie die Zwiebeln gepflanzt werden. Ich darf gar nicht an meine Knie bei dieser Arbeit daran denken.
Then we went in the famous park. Here the tulips and narcissus are all labeld. I also saw how the bulbs are planted. I dread to think about my knees at this work.

 

 Neugierig wie ich bin, habe ich noch einen Ausgang aus dem Park in das ‚Hinterland’ gefunden. Hier waren Wasservögel zu sehen – unter anderem ein Löffler und ein Kampfläufer.
Curious as I am, I found an exit from the park in the ‘hinterland’. There we saw a lot of water birds – among others a common spoonbill and also a ruff.

 

 

Garten im Juli – garden in July

Da schmeckt es wohl einem. Der Wiesenmanager meinte es sei krank. Früher hatten wir viele Auseinandersetzungen mit dem Pächter des Nachbargartens: ‚Bei ihnen kommen immer die Kaninchen rein’. Dabei hatte er Löcher im Zaun und in der Gartentüre. Und zum Schluß auch noch einen Bau. In der Früh sind wohl an zehn Kaninchen zu sehen – Aussage einer Hundebesitzerin. Ihr junger Hund ist begeistert diese zu sehen.  

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. The meadow manager thought, it might be ill. Long ago we had a lot of trouble with the tenant of the neighbour garden. ‘The rabbits are coming in the garden on your side’. At that there where holes in his fence and in the garden gate as well. And at the end there is (still) a rabbit hole in his garden (now the garden of his daughter). In the morning there you can see about ten rabbits – that’s the information of a dog owner. Her puppy is always exited to see them.

Urlaub im April (Teil 4) Medenblik – holidays in April (part 4) Medenblik

Nein wir haben nicht nur Tulpenfelder angesehen. Dazwischen waren wir auch spazieren in Medenblik – eine schönes Städtchen. Nachdem die Nordsee schon nicht geklappt hat, hier gibt es auch Wasser. Nur ein Spaziergang auf dem Damm – nicht möglich. Die sind alle nicht zugänglich.
No, we have not only a look at the tulip fields. We also strolled through Medenblik – a lovely town. As we could not see the North Sea, here is water as well. Only a walk at the dyke is not possible. They are not accessible.
