Ausflug nach Köln – David trip to Cologne

Am Samstag waren wir in

nur im ersten Wort des Schiffes,  nämlich Köln

Ich besuche gerne Köln. Ich finde besonders die Südstadt mit den kleinen Geschäften und ihren Bewohnern interessant. Und ich hole mir hier immer meine Zeitschrift ‚Selvedge’  in der Galerie Smend ab. Ich könnte sie mir auch zusenden lassen, aber ich ziehe es vor diese mir abzuholen. So habe ich auch immer eine schöne Bahnreise, einen Spaziergang an den Rhein entlang (im Schönen Wochenend-Ticket ist keine U-Bahn enthalten, von Bus ganz zu schweigen),
I like to visit Cologne – I find especially the ‘Südstadt’ interesting with the little different shops and the residents. And here I always fetch my magazines ‘Selvedge’ at the GallerySmend. I know they would supply them by mail to me, but I prefer to collect them myself.  So I have always a nice journey by rail, a walk along the Rhine (the ‘Schönes Wochenend-Ticket’ doesn’t include further travel by underground in the town not to mention the bus),



dann zur Galerie, anschließend Kaffee und belegtes Brötchen in der Bäckerei Merzenich am Chlodwigplatz mit Broteinkauf (riesige Brotauswahl und das Walnussbrot schmeckt mmh!!). Dann zurück Richtung Hauptbahnhof . Dabei kommt man an eine riesige Baustelle – für Köln nichts Ungewöhnliches - vorbei. Es waren am Bauzaun 24 Tafeln angebracht. Und da habe ich das erst Mal registriert, daß es sich hier nicht um eine Baustelle des U-Bahn handelte, sondern um das Archiv, das vor einigen Jahren eingestürzt ist.

then to the gallery, afterwards coffee and sandwich at the bakery Merzenich at Chlodwigplatz with purchase of bread (a good offer of bread there and especially the walnut bread tastes mmh!). Then strolling aback to the main station.  Thereby you pass a building site – nothing uncommon in Cologne.     There were 24 plaques mounted at the site fence. And I recognised   first time, that it was not the But this time I recognised for the first time, that it wasn’t a common building site for the underground, but it the archive, which was destroyed by a collapse some years ago.

 

 

 

 

Dann aber zur Kirche St. Georg, die immer einen Besuch wert ist. Anschließend ein Besuch des Stoffgeschäftes Stofferia  und dann ins Museum.

But then to the church St.Georg, which is always worth to visit. Afterwards a visit to a textile shop 'Stofferia', and then visiting a museum.
