Köln – Cologne

Der Wiesenmanager hatte  Geburtstag und war so nett mit mir nach Köln zu fahren. Ziel waren zwei Ausstellungen. Aber nach der Ankunft – mit nur 5 Minuten Verspätung – wurde erst gefrühstückt im Café Reichard (wir fuhren früh los).
The meadow-manager had birthday and he was so kind to travel with me to Cologne. Aim were two exhibitions. But after our arrival – with only five minutes delay – we had first breakfast in the café Reichard (we set off quite early in the morning).
Dann ging es ins Museum Wallraf  in die Ausstellung ‚Es war einmal in Amerika– 300 Jahre US-amerikanische Kunst‘.
Then we walked to the Museum Wallraf to the exhibition ‘Once upon a time in America – Threecenturies of US-American art’.
Sehenswert, obwohl für uns eigentlich fast alle Künstler unbekannt sind. Also einen Besuch kann ich nur empfehlen.
Worth seeing, although most of the artists are unknown for us. But I can only recommend a visit.
Aber die eigentliche Ausstellung die ich besuchen wollte – Betonung liegt auf ich – war im TENRI Japanisch-DeutscheKulturwerkstatt e.V.  Zuerst dachte ich die sind in Düsseldorf beheimatet, aber nein, die sind in Köln in der Südstadt.
But in the first place I wanted – the operativ word is I – to see an exhibition at ‘TENRIJapanisch-Deutsche Kulturwerkstatt e.V.‘. First I thought they are domiciled in Dusseldorf, but no they are in Cologne in the ‘Südstadt’.
Hier findet eine interessante Ausstellung über die japanische Textilkünstlerin Nobuko Tsuruta statt. Die Ausstellung kann noch bis 22.12.2018 besucht werden.  Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf alle Fälle. Ich habe noch nie etwas von Saori-ori gelesen geschweige dann gesehen. Aber das hat mich begeistert.  Außerdem färbt die Künstlerin selbst mit Pigmenten.
Here is an interesting exhibition about the Japanese artist Nobuko Tsuruta in progress. The exhibition is open till 22.12.2018. A visit is worthwhile. I never read let alone see something about Saori-ori. But this enthuse me. Furthermore the artist dyes her fiber with pigment.

Kurse – courses

Im neuen Jahr treffen nun die Kursprogramme ein. Und da man dann auch Energie (manchmal) und etwas mehr Zeit hat, ist die Verlockung groß, wieder mal was zu lernen.  
Das Kursprogramm der 'Textilen Kultur' in Haslach (Mühlviertel in Österreich) ist im neuen Layout eingetroffen. Mit dem neuen Aussehen gibt  auch einige neue viel versprechende Kurse. Also habe ich mich auch gleich angemeldet. Ich kann das für Textilbegeisterte nur empfehlen. Auch der Wiesenmanager freut sich bereits. Erst mal wegen der schönen Wiesen – da kann er wieder Samen sammeln und dann auch schönen Ausflüge in der Umgebung unternehmen. Also für Begleitpersonen gibt es jede Menge in Haslach und Umgebung zu entdecken.
Haslach war bekannt für die Leinenwebereien. Es existieren noch zwei schöne Webereien, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein können. Da ist einerseits die Firma Viehböck und die Firma Leitner. Ein Besuch von beiden ist ein Muss.
Und dann gibt es noch den Textilmarkt – mit ausgesuchten Ausstellern sowie einen Fasermarkt. Hier kann man sich mit Webgarnen eindecken.
With the New Year, there arrive the new programmes of courses. And at this time of the year, you have the energy (sometimes) and a little bit more time than usual; therefore the attraction to learn something is big.
The new programme of courses of the ‘Textile Kultur’ in Haslach (Mühlviertel, Austria) arrived in a new layout. With the new look there are also some new promising courses. Therefore I immediately subscribed. I can only recommend this for freaks of textiles. The meadow-manager is looking forward as well. First of all for the beautiful meadows there – so he can collect seeds - and then for   walking in this beautiful surrounding.  Therefore for the accompanying person(s) there is a lot to discover in Haslach and surrounding.
Haslach was famous for weaving linen. But now there are only two companies, which are different in various ways. On one hand there is ‘Viehböck’ and on the other hand ‘Leitner’. But both are worth a visit.
And there is also the textile-market – with excellent exhibitors and a fibre-market as well. There you can buy yarn for weaving.
