3. Advent der zweite Weihnachtsmarkt – 3. Advent the secondsd Christmas market

Nachdem die Gärtnerin in der Weihnachtszeit einen Minijob bei einer großen Buchhandlung hat – Kisten mit Büchern und sonstigem Zeug (ich sage nur Lillifee) auspacken - hat ist das Verreisen unter der Woche nicht mehr so leicht möglich. Aber einen weiteren Weihnachtsmarkt wollte ich doch noch besuchen. Regensburg mit dem Schloß klang nicht schlecht. Regensburg ist ohnehin eine schöne Stadt mit schmalen Gassen und Spaziergängen an der Donau. 

Because the head gardener is working during Christmas time in a big bookshop – unload boxes of books and other stuff (I only say Lillifee) – going on a journey during the week is impossible. But as I wanted to visit another Christmas market - Regensburg with the castle sounded quite nice. Regensburg is a lovely little city with narrow alleys and walks at the Danube. .

Außerdem standen vier Adventsmärkte zur Auswahl.
There were actually four Christmas markets to choose.
Zuerst besuchten wir das Schloß. Da bezahlte man erst mal EUR 7,00 pro Person und Besuch. Schön war, daß Fackeln brannten (das Petroleum hat entsprechend gerochen) und überall Öfen standen, an die man sich zum Essen oder Rasten setzen konnte. Es gab fast nur Ess- und Trinkstände, ein wenig Kunsthandwerk (an einer Hand abzuzählen) und sonst das übliche, was man in Geschäften unter dem Jahr bekommt. Dazu Weihnachtsmusik aus der Konserve und in der Schänke am Turm nicht ganz jugendfreie Musik (Unterhosenparty u.ä.). Also man/frau hätte darauf verzichten können.
First we visited the market in the castle. Here we had to pay EUR 7,00 per person and visit. It was nice, that there were torches (but you could smell the petroleum) and open fires where you could sit and eat. But most of the stalls had food and drinks, a few were with craftspeople (it could be counted on the finger of one hand) and otherwise the usual, you can buy in a shop during all the year. Furthermore only canned Christmas songs and at the far end in the tavern of the castle music, which was not quite clean (party with underwear and the like). So man/woman could give this a miss.

Die anderen Weihnachtsmärkte waren ähnlich – nur ohne Musik und Eintritt. Ein einziger Markt hatte Kunsthandwerk – das wöchentlich wechselt.
The other Christmas markets were mostly the same –only without music and admission fee. Only one market was with handicraft – there the craftspeople.

Regensburg hat uns aber so gut gefallen. Da gab es den Gänsepredigerbrunnen und viele Tändler auch mit Weihnachtsschmuck. Waren leider zu – gut für den Geldbeutel.

But we liked Regensburg. There was the nice ‘Gänsepredigerbrunnen’ and a lot of triflers with old Christmas decoration. Unfortunately they were closed – or fortunately for my purse.

 

 

Aber wegen Weihnachtsmärkten – kann man vergessen. Was auch schön war, daß einige Leute mit Laterne unterwegs waren.
But only for the Christmas market – you can forget it. Nice was as well, that there were a lot of people on the road with lanterns.  

Christkindlmarkt am 3. Advent – Christmas fair on 3rd Advent

Unsere zwei Gutscheine der Deutschen Bahn mussten doch noch ausgenutzt werden. Die Wahl des Reisezieles war der Christkindlmarkt

Damit wir wenigstens nicht zu viel für die Bahnfahrt ausgeben mussten, fuhren wir sehr früh, das hieß  4 (früh) aufstehen – und das am Sonntag. Nach einem schnellen Frühstück hatten wir uns nach der Fahrt am Bahnhof einen Imbiss  gegönnt.
As we don’t want to spend a lot of money for the railway trip, we had to get up very, very soon in the morning (4 a.m.). And all that on a Sunday. After a quick breakfast we treated ourselves with a snack at the railway station.

 Dann ging es in die Stadt, zuerst der Handwerkerhof, dann Richtung Christkindlmarkt an den ersten Ständen vorbei.

Unter Wurzelsepp habe ich mir ein anderes Schaufenster vorgestellt.
For ‘Wurzelsepp’ I had an other imagination of a shopping window - (something more rustically)

Am Markt ging es langsam los, auch mit den Besuchern. Hierzu einige Ansichten um 10.00 – 10.30. Der Markt geht offiziell erst um 10.30 los.

At about 10 o’clock a.m. but the stalls were beginning to build up and the visitors were also coming at about 10 o’clock a.m. The Christmas fair didn’t start before 10.30 a.m.

Die ersten Würste wurden bereits gebraten.

Already the sausages are grilled.  

 
Ich habe mit endlich einen Herrnhuter Stern geleistet. Jetzt muß er nur noch zusammengebaut werden. 

At least I bought a ‘Herrnhuter’ Star. Now it has to be put together.

Es ging auch mit Postkutsche. Die Hinterlassenschaften wurden fein säuberlich weggekehrt.

Dann ging es auf die Burg. Vorbei an dem weltberühmten Dürserhasen und dem älteste Häuschen erreichten wir die Burg
Then we went to the castle. Passing the world-famous hare of Dürer and the oldest house we arrived at the castle

 

und hatten von dort einen schönen Ausblick auf Nürnberg
and had an excellent view from there over Nuremberg 

und auf den Christkindlmarkt.

Und schließlich zurück auf den Christkindlmarkt. Über den Markt lagen  Schwaden von Bratwurstrauch.

And at least back to the Christmas fair. Over the market are wafts of smokes of sausages

And the mulled wine was streaming certainly  
 

 

 

Aber aufgrund des großen Betriebes zog es uns gen Bahnhof wieder nach Hause. Aber natürlich kamen viele  Menschen uns entgegen.
But because of the bustle we decided to go to the railway station and go back home. We passed a lot of people, who were heading for the Christmas fair.
