Weidenflechten - Willow weaving

Im Naturschutzhaus in der Weilbacher Kiesgrube wurde ein Kurs ‚Objektflechten – Ausflechtungen’  angeboten. Ausgangspunkt sind ‚Astgabeln’, in die dann geflochten wird. Zuerst haben wir das an einem Weidenstab geübt, dann ging es in die Natur und jeder sollte sich selbst eine Astgabel suchen. Anschließend habe ich mich noch an einer ‚Schale’ versucht. Hier muss ich noch die Enden abschneiden. Nur ist derzeit die Gartenschere nicht scharf genug.

In the ‘Naturschutzhaus’ in the Weilbacher Kiesgrube a workshop ‘Objektflechten – Ausflechtungen’ was offered. The basis is a forked branch, in this you have to weave. First we tried this new method at a willow, and then we went outside looking for a forked branch. Then I tried to weave a ‘bowl’. This object I have not yet finish – I have to cut off the ends. But my secateurs are not sharp enough.

Seligenstadt im Oktober - Seligenstadt in October

Im Oktober waren wir nochmals in Seligenstadt – Brot kaufen und auch bummeln. Der Klostergarten ist immer schön anzusehen. Den roten Kohl gab es noch nicht zu kaufen. So konnte man sich aber an der Farbe im Beet erfreuen.
In October we have been to Seligenstadt again – buying bread and strolling. It is always nice to have a look in the cloister garden. The red kale was not for sale yet. So you could enjoy the colour in the border.

Leider war der Akku leer und ich konnte nicht mein Lieblingsgeschäft fotografieren. Aber da ich sowieso einen Besuch da abstattete, habe ich den gekauften Weihnachtsschmuck im Nachhinein fotografiert. Das Vögelchen war das letzte seiner Art. Der Weihnachtsschmuck ist Anfang/Mitte November schon ausverkauft – hat mir die Besitzerin des Ladens verraten. Der Hirsch war aber noch vom letzten Jahr.
Unfortunately the battery was flat and so I couldn’t take any picture of my favourite shop. As I visited it anyway, I took some pictures of the Christmas decoration I bought afterwards. The little bird was the last one . The Christmas decoration is always sold out at begin/mid of November – the owner told us. But the deer was from the last year.

 

Theodor GÉRICAULT - Theodor GÉRICAULT

In der Schirn (Frankfurt) ist derzeit (bis 26.01.2014) eine Ausstellung über Géricault  zu sehen. Eigentlich hatte der Wiesenmanager erzählt, daß derzeit eine Ausstellung mit gemalten Körperteilen zu sehen ist. Nachdem ich aber das Plakat gesehen habe, und bereits von diesem Maler gehört – aber nichts gesehen habe, war dies ein Muss. Ich kann es nur jedem empfehlen.
At the moment there is an exhibition about theodor Géricault to see in the Schirn (in Frankfurt/Main). It was the meadow-manager who told me, that there is an exhibition about painted still life of cut off limbs. But after I saw the poster and I have already heard about this painter – but haven’t seen anything – it was a must. And I can only recommend it.

GÉRICAULT. BILDER AUF LEBEN UND TOD

Im Herbst 2013 präsentiert die SCHIRN die erste Einzelausstellung zu Théodore Géricault (1791–1824) in Deutschland. Sie rückt zwei der zentralen Themenkomplexe des bedeutenden französischen Malers der romantischen Schule in den Mittelpunkt: das physische Leiden des modernen Menschen, wie es eindrücklich in Stillleben von abgeschnittenen Köpfen und Gliedmaßen als das Ineinander von Leben und Tod zum Ausdruck kommt, sowie die psychische Qual, wie sie seine Porträts von Geisteskranken zeigen. Diese komplett neuartigen Darstellungen von existenziellen Situationen, von Wahnsinn und Krankheit, von Leiden und Tod stehen beispielhaft für Géricaults besondere Modernität, die solchen mit Abscheu und Ekel besetzten Sujets Bildwürdigkeit und eine verstörende Aktualität verleiht. Angesiedelt zwischen dem romantischen Geschmack an Horror und dem unsentimentalen Blick der Wissenschaft spielte Géricault mit seinen Bildern von Wahnsinn und Tod bei der Konstituierung und Sichtbarmachung des modernen Subjekts eine entscheidende Rolle. Im Dialog mit Arbeiten von Zeitgenossen wie Francisco de Goya, Johann Heinrich Füssli oder Adolph Menzel stellt die Schau das traditionelle Verständnis von Realismus und Romantik als zwei einander ausschließende Epochenstile in Frage.

GÉRICAULT. IMAGES OF LIFE AND DEATH

In fall 2013 the SCHIRN will hold the very first solo show on Théodore Géricault (1791–1824) in Germany. It will firmly center on two key sets of themes that the major French Romantic painter addressed: the physical suffering of modern man (as is so impressively presented in his still lifes of cut-off heads or limbs as the interweaving of life and death), as well as psychological torment (as in his portraits of the mentally deranged). This completely new way of representing existential situations, of madness and illness, of suffering and death, bear witness to Géricault’s especially modern thrust, and it gives subject matter otherwise associated with repugnance and disgust the status of profound images that are troublingly contemporary. Treading a thin line between the Romantic love of horror and the unsentimental eye of science, with his images of madness and death Géricault played a key role in the constitution and visualization of the modern individual. In dialog with the works of his contemporaries, such as Francisco de Goya, Johann Heinrich Füssli or Adolph Menzel, the exhibition expounds how the traditional view of Realism and Romanticism as diametrically opposing epoch-making styles is by no means tenable.

Ein Garten in Schlierbach – a garden in Schlierbach

 Ich habe bereits letztes Jahr über diesen Garten berichtet. Allerdings wurden damals die Aufnahmen von außen gemacht. Diesmal war die Besitzerin dieses Kleinods da und hat uns eingeladen, jederzeit in ihren Garten zu gehen. Das haben wir bei jedem Urlaub gemacht.
Leider haben im Mai die Rosen noch nicht geblüht und im Juli waren sie schon verblüht. Trotzdem, es gibt in diesem Garten soviel zu entdecken. Um die Bäume – und davon gibt es viele – sind Beete angelegt bzw. dekoriert.  
Last year I wrote already about this garden. But at this time I took only the pictures of the garden from outside. This time the owner of this beauty spot was invited us, to have a look in her garden every time. This we did in our holidays. Unfortunately in May the roses have not flowered and in June the roses have already withered. Nevertheless in this garden you could see and discover a lot. Around the trees – and there a many of it – borders are laid out respectively decorated.

 

Außerdem gibt es Hühner, Pfaue und natürlich Katzen.
Also there are many hens, peacocks and naturally cats.
